MONEY IS A TOOL NOT A MASTER
BIBLE READING: MARK 10:17-31
“Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.” I Timothy 6:17 (NKJV).
When Jesus was teaching His disciples how to pray, He gave them a pattern of prayer and in that pattern, one of the things He said was “Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” (Matt. 6:10). One of the reasons God gives you resources is to ensure that through those resources given to you, you do your part to make sure that God’s will is done on earth as it is in heaven. This means you must be a kingdom financier. Pay attention to what the Spirit is doing in every season and make sure you give towards making it a reality.
Money is also given to you so you can be a channel of God’s blessings to those in need. He commands in His Word that we must help the needy and the poor among us. “He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given.” Proverbs 19:17 (NKJV).
With money, you can also carry out spiritual transactions, activate the miracle of the seed faith and do a host of other things. As a matter of fact, the Bible says that money answers all things. “A feast is made for laughter, And wine makes merry; But money answers everything.” Ecclesiastes 10:19 (NKJV).
However, what all these has shown to us is that money is just a tool that we deploy to meet the needs of God and men here on earth. If the drive to get money ever supersedes the noble purpose for which you are getting that money, or you ever get to a point where you would do anything just to get it, then you have made money your master and it’s no longer what God made it to be in your life; just a tool.
“He who gives to the poor will not lack, But he who hides his eyes will have many curses.” Proverbs 28:27 (NKJV).
Ask God for mercy and forgiveness for the times you made money a master over you.
Ask God to help you place money at the right place in your life.
Ask God to give you a compassionate heart and help you to finance Kingdom projects and give to the poor.
Actively and consciously give to those in need, to your pastors and for the work of God. The more you give money away, the more you conquer it’s hold over you and it will no longer be your master.
