Some Nigerian musicians have moved from doing secular music to doing gospel music.
To them, however, it’s not just a venture but they claim to have been “called by God”, “anointed” or they have “given their lives to Christ”.
Following the recent trend, MyNigeria.com has compiled the names of some famous Nigerian musicians that have transitioned from secular to gospel music.
Dapo Oyebanjo also known as Dbanj has declared that he is born again after making a revelation at a Christian concert in Abuja.
He said that Jesus is the conqueror and that if anyone was aware of his story, they would notice that he always gave honor to God in all his albums. He cited some of his songs such as Olorun Maje, Mobo lowo wan, to back his claims. He has promised new gospel music for his fans.
Popular Singer Chindinma Ekile has also openly declared she was born again and has given her life wholly to Christ. The winner of Project Fame West Africa in 2010 stunned her fans by saying she has shunned doing secular music and has transitioned into the gospel kingdom. She also changed her name to Minister Chidinma to reflect her new direction.
Rapper Princess Vitarah
Nigerian-American Rapper, Princess Vitarah who is popularly known for the vulgarity of her rap lyrics and hypersexuality has stated that she is rebranding and will be using her talents to honor God. She rose to fame after her song “Nigerian honeypot” went viral.
Popular music star, Lynxxx, who has had a “bad boy” image and has spoken on everything from premarital sex to plastic surgery had left many wondering what led him to change.
He disclosed that he had found spirituality, and has decided to pursue God.
