THE ANIONTING – THE DIFFERENCE MAKER

BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 10:20-27

“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.” ‭‭I John‬ ‭2:27‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬).

The Anointing announces a man and automatically sets him apart. You may have been struggling with life’s issues before, but once the Anointing comes upon you, there is supernatural help to get things done. The Anointing is supernatural empowerment. It is power to do things you couldn’t have done ordinarily.

The function of the Anointing upon a man cannot be over emphasised. In the Old Testament, God had to anoint a man before He could set him over the people of Israel as captain. 1Samuel 9:16 – “Tomorrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.”

In the case of David, as soon as he was anointed, the hand of the Lord came upon him; he was no longer the ordinary shepherd boy. 1Samuel 16:13- “Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.”

This anointing upon David was evident in the way he even played the harp. Obviously, David was not the only one that played a harp in the whole of Israel but he was the only one who could play and an evil spirit will leave. 1Samuel 16:23 – “And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.”

The anointing is not limited to a few; it is available to everyone as long as you make yourself available to be touched by the Lord. The truth is that as the Lord sent us into the world, He anointed us for the assignment. We have supernatural backing even to carry out ministry to others. Isaiah 61:1-4 – “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.”

It is the same way that Christ was first anointed before stepping out because even He knew the difference that will be made with the hand of the Lord upon Him. Acts 10:38 – “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

Beyond doing ministry and the functioning in the supernatural, the Anointing is also what separates you from the regular people who are not born again. The Anointing makes you stand out from your peers and takes you to greater heights in your career and business. Do not limit the Anointing of the Holy Spirit to the four walls of the Church. Take the Holy Spirit with into your world. Take the Anointing into your daily life and it take you to the top, above all your contemporaries.

PRAYER POINTS:

  • Ask the Lord to fill you with His Spirit once again, a fresh baptism of the Holy Ghost upon your life.
  • Ask the Lord to anoint your head with a fresh Oil. Spend some time praying in the Holy Ghost and yielding yourself to the Holy Spirit.
